I screen printed a pile of Chinese national flags on organza. I have been making the flags as a routine for months. I am not making them every day, all the time, but it is there, present, from time to time, just like my national identity. 

 

Then I was curious about the weight of the flags. These symbolic flags have been infused with so much weight by our nation, our culture, our society and my own labor, so how much does each flag really weigh?

 

So I weighed them, one by one, on a mechanical scale.
